Bay Path Volleyball Drops 3-0 Decision to Nichols College

EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. – Freshman Marissa Courchesne (Belchertown, Mass.) led all Bay Path College players with six kills, eight digs and two service aces, but it was not enough as the Wildcats dropped a 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-11) decision to Nichols College in non-conference volleyball action on Thursday evening.

The visiting Bison served up 19 service aces and posted a solid .278 attack percentage en route to the straight-set victory. Nichols won each of the first two sets by identical 25-16 scores before sealing the victory by a 25-11 count in the third set.

For Bay Path, sophomore Lisa Sikop (Easthampton, Mass.) added four kills and a pair of digs, while freshman Delaney Ivas (Adams, Mass.) chipped in seven digs and three kills. Sophomore Lydia Clifford (Coventry, R.I.) registered six digs and two kills for the host Wildcats.

Nichols freshman Madison Perrotti (Moultonborough, N.H.) led the Bison with a match-high eight kills, while the trio of senior Megan Gardner (South Deerfield, Mass.), sophomore Regan Richard (Wolcott, Conn.) and freshman Allyson Tuxbury (East Hampton, Conn.) added six kills apiece. Sophomore Jayleen Fegan (Mansfield Center, Conn.) led all players with 11 digs and six service aces, while graduate student Zoe Chevrette (Wilbraham, Mass.) posted an evening-best 17 assists to go with seven digs.

The Wildcats claimed a 30-25 edge in digs over the course of the match.

With the loss, Bay Path fell to 0-4 on the young season, while Nichols improved to 2-1.  The Wildcats will host Castleton Saturday at noon, while Nichols will travel to New Haven for a tri-match against Albertus Magnus and Lehman.
