Wildcats Fall to Pilgrims

EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. – Bay Path succumbed 3-0 to New England College in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's volleyball action today at First Baptist. Game set scores were 25-11, 25-15, 25-14. Freshman Marissa Courchesne (Belchertown, Mass.) led the way for the Wildcats with three kills and nine digs despite the conference loss.

 

Sophomore Lydia Clifford (Coventry, R.I.) also had three kills, three assists and two blocks.

 

The Pilgrims' freshman outside hitter Shirita Wimberly (Waipahu, Hawaii) topped all players with a sizzling .455 attack percentage. Wimberly had 13 kills, two aces and two digs. Head Coach Kirsten Morrison managed to play the bench significantly with 18 players seeing court time.

 

Sophomore outside hitter Tihani Ehia (Kaneohe, Hawaii) added seven kills and eight digs with a .333 hitting percentage. Defensively, freshman Libero Jaycie Kodama (Pauoa Valley, Hawaii) led the way with match high 11 digs.  


Two NEC players combined for ten service aces, five apiece, sophomore setter Maggie Dadmum (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) and sophomore key reservist setter Colby Ross (Grayson, Ga.). Dadmum added 18 assists, while Ross finished with seven assists.

 

NEC hosts MCLA on Tuesday, September 24 for a 7:00 p.m. match, while Bay Path is back in action on Wednesday, September 25th for a 7:00 p.m. start travelling to Pine Manor. The Pilgrims are 5-7 overall and 1-0 in the NECC, the Wildcats fall to 1-8 on the season and 0-1 in conference play.
