Bay Path Places 7th in St. Joseph Cross Country Invitational

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – American International College took
top honors at the 4th Annual Blue Jay Invitational 5K race on
Saturday morning in muddy wet conditions for the cross country
race. Two Wildcat harriers broke into the top 25 including freshmen
Olivia
Bis (South Wildsor, Conn.) and Jessica
Fields (Enfield, Conn.)
Jeptui Cherutich (Springfield, Mass.) from team
champion AIC was the individual winner in 18 minutes, 26 seconds,
three seconds ahead of teammate M.J. Ohoueu
(Paris, France). Sarah Santos (Norwalk, Conn.)
from the University of Bridgeport was third in 18:45, Julie
Pattyson (Seymour, Conn.) from host St. Joseph clocked in
at 19:07 and Claudia Fernandez (Barcelona, Spain),
also of AIC, was fifth in 19:25.
AIC won the team compeition with 34 points, follwed by Framingham State (51), Bridgeport (55), Saint Joseph (110), Cedar Crest (113), Albertus Magnus (135) and Bay Path (140).
Bis once again led the Wildcats in the 5K race with a team best time of 23:42 for 21st place overall , while Fields was 23rd with a time of 24:03. Both harriers broke season best records.
Wildcat runners placing were Danielle Brown(Nashua, N.H.) in 27th place ( 24:35), Katrina Trajkovski (Wilbraham, Mass.) in 30th (25:19), Jen Scionti (Cromwell, Conn.) with a time of 29:23 and Caitlin Reynolds (Worcester, Mass.) with a time of 31:10.
Bay Path will be back in action on Saturday, October 8th at the Westfield State Invitational.
