Brown Leads the Way for Bay Path at WNE Invitational

Bay Path Participates in 2011 Western New England Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Bay Path raced in the Western New England University Invitational held Saturday, Oct. 15, on WNE campus. There were 191 female harriers and 19 teams.

Taking top honors was Westfield State with 30 points. WPI finished 2nd (42 pts), Clark  was 3rd (97 pts), Roger Williams was 4th (101 pts) and rounding out the top five was Gordon (136 pts.) New England Collegiate Conference Schools participating finished Elms 16th (473 pts), Bay Path finished 17th (503 pts) and Southern Vermont finishing 19th (546 pts).

Once again, leading the way for the Wildcats was junior Danielle Brown (Nashua, N.H.) with a time of 24:55.53 (124th). Next was freshman Olivia Bis (South Windsor, Conn.) in 134th place with a time of 25:26.94. Third for the Wildcats was freshman Jessica Fields (Enfield, Conn.) at 153rd (26:40.59) while sophomore Katrina Trajkovski (Wilbraham, Mass.) was 4th on the team and 157th overall (27:12.31). Finishing off the top five field for the Wildcats was junior Meagan Costello (Rochester, N.H.) with a time of 28:57.34 in 169th place.

Four more members finished consecutively for the Wildcats including sophomore Enfield native Vanessa Conseicao (36:52.59), sophomore Ware native Melissa Lindsay (37:11.91), hailing from Chester senior Brittany Castagna (37:50.38) and Hopedale native senior Lindsay Weaver (38:03.94).

Bay Path will be back in action on Saturday, October 29th at the 2011 NECC Women's Cross Country Championships hosted by Daniel Webster College.
