Student-Athlete Spotlight

Why did you come to Bay Path?

I decided to come to Bay Path College because I loved the fact that the class sizes were so small. I love that the professors really take the chance to get to know the students and really care about student success. The fact that the school also had my major was a big factor in attending and being able to play basketball and softball was definitely a huge bonus.

What do you like to do outside of sports?

Outside of sports I am very involved with many different things. I work a part-time job, I am involved with multiple clubs on campus, and I am also a Resident Assistant in one of the dorms. When I do have free time I like to read, go for a run, and hang out with my boyfriend and watch Food Network and the Travel Channel. If I am on vacation I love to travel. I love to experience different cultures and learn the different customs around the country and around the world.

Do you plan on playing sports or coaching after you graduate next year?

I would love to be able to play sports or help with coaching after I graduate, however I am planning on staying here at BPC and working on my Master’s Degree. I would love to be able to help out with the basketball and softball team when my schedule allows.

What is your most memorable moment as an athlete at Bay Path?

I have a lot of great memories from playing sports here at Bay Path, both positive and negative. I love how the girls on my team come together and defend each other. Whether we win or lose we are a family. We work together and have each other’s backs. We look out for each other and that is a memory that I will never forget. My favorite sport specific memory would have to be my in the park homerun that I had my sophomore year. I have never had a home run before and to have to run and beat the ball all the way to home plate added a little bit of extra meaning to it.

What do you like the most about basketball?

I love the fact that we are a small team. It gets rough sometimes when we are on the court and could use a few more bodies but we are all really close. The chemistry on our team is really good and we are all in it together. We are all friends on and off the court and that is a great feeling to know that you have nine other girls that you can count on. I also love how the coaching staff throughout the years not only teach us basketball techniques and skills but they also focus on giving us the skills that will help us get through real life. They teach us lessons that we can apply to what we are doing on the court but also lessons that can roll over and be carried into our lives now and even after graduation. They help us to be well-rounded respectable individuals and I thank both R.J Toner and Jess Huntley for helping me learn a lot about myself and to develop greatly as a player.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

I see myself settled down with my Master’s degree in hand and my Doctoral degree in progress. I am hoping to get a job working in a hospital next year while I work on my Master’s in Developmental Psychology. After I obtain that goal I hope to be able to further my education and go on to get my Doctorate of Physical Therapy.

What is your ideal day away from your sport?

I would love to be able to just wake up and go for a long run with my music and then spend the rest of the day relaxing with my boyfriend.
