Girls and Women in Sports Day Recognized by Bay Path College

In the kickoff event to NCAA Division III Week, the “Wildcats of Bay Path College held the 1st of a series of events to recognize student-athletes and their many activities outside the field or court.

The Bay Path College Student-Athlete Advisory Council or SAAC held its 17th annual Girls and Women in Sports Day on the beautiful Longmeadow Campus.  The event which is annually sponsored and conducted by the SAAC brings girls from the Springfield community onto the campus for an afternoon of fun activities related to sports and recreation.

Eleven girls and their Troop leaders from Springfield Girls Scout Troop 20786 based out of the Alice B. Beal School and over 15 Bay Path student-athletes from the 8 varsity teams spent the afternoon and early evening learning skills in soccer, yoga and eating healthy.  Each girl was presented with a t-shirt, water bottle and a picture taken with our own “Wildcat” mascot.  The event also helped the Troop complete a merit badge related to Sports and Healthy Lifestyle.  The day concluded with a meal in the Blake Student Commons and tour of a dormitory room of a student-athlete.
