Roadrunners Race Past Wildcats 10-0

LONGMEADOW, Mass. - Freshman forward Katie Bruno (Middletown, N.J.) led the Ramapo College of New Jersey Roadrunners in a 10-0 rout of the Bay Path College Wildcats in NCAA Division III women's field hockey action. Bruno shelled out the first two goals of the game along with two assists for six points.

Despite the tough loss for Bay Path, four departing seniors were honored during the half-time festivities including defender Lauren Czaikowski (Glastonbury, Conn.), forward Sarah Gates (Crown Point, Ind.), captain midfielder Sam Bosco (Bridgewater, Mass.) and midfielder Lindsie Lavin (Feeding Hills, Mass.).

Bruno started the ball rolling for their shut-out netting the first goal at 4:25 on the clock off an inside pass by senior midfielder Amanda Mavrakes (Wayne, N.J.).  Bruno would notch the second goal and her third on the season at 11:18 on the clock. Senior midfielder Mackenzie Cahill (Pompton Plains, N.J.) had the assist.

Sophomore Jayne Manigrasso (Atlantic Highlands, N.J.) and junior defender Viktoria Kristbergs (Forked River, N.J.) also netted two goals apiece for the Roadrunners. Manigrasso tallied her 13th and 14th goal on the season, while Kristbergs notched her first and second of the year.

Four other Roadrunners scored goals for the contest including; Cahill, sophomore forward Rebecca Penhaker (Wantage, N.J.), sophomore defender Aimee Herbert (Oceanport, N.J.) and freshman forward Victoria Ahlers (Freehold, N.J.).

Wildcat sophomore Samantha Berrios (New York, N.Y.) tallied four saves for the game while facing 17 shots and 15 on goal.

Ramapo is now at .500 with the win with a 6-6 overall record, while Bay Path Falls to 0-11 in their second year of the program.

Bay Path will take to the field again on Wednesday, October 21st travelling to New England Collegiate Conference rival Becker at a 6:00 p.m. start under lights.
