Eagles Win Fourth Straight, Topping Bay Path

Nashua, NH--Freshman guard Joyce Chagan (Boothbay, ME) knocked downa  career high 28 points on 11 of 18 shooting, went 6 for 7 at the line and added eight rebounds, six assists and four steals guiding host Daniel WEbster past Bay Path, 90-48 Thursday night in a matchup of future New England Collegiate Conference rivals.

The Eagles, 6-3 overall, won thier fourth straight and are off to their best start since the 1997-98 squad started 7-2.  Bay Path dropped its seventh straight in falling to 1-8 overall.  The two squads will become inaugural members of the NECC next season.

Erin Moseley (Sterling, MA) added 20 points and eight rebounds, while newcomer Alyssa Regan (Salem, NH) kicked in her first career double double with 14 points and 10 rebounds and added three blocks.  Sara Shea (Quincy, MA) added 10 points, seven assists and four steals.  Brianna DeSeignor added eight points and three steals.

The Eagles shot a season best 51 percent in the first half and led 54-25 at the break.  DWC was also aided by 40 Wildcat turnovers on the night resulting in 50 points.  DWC finished with 22 total steals and added an overwhelming 51-35 advantage on the boards, which included 28 on the offensive glass.

Jessica Hunt (Madison, CT) led Bay Path with a doulbe double of 16 points and 11 boards, while Chrissy Ordyna (Great Barrington, MA) added 13.

Bay Path took an early 6-2 lead after an Ordyna three pointer before the Eagles answered with quick 8-0 run including three layups from Chagan that created a 10-6 lead 4:02 in.  The Eagles never trailed from there.

Another Ordyna three and Hunt layup cut the lead to three (16-13) but Moseley followed with a jumper and two free throws, Shea added a trey and Chagan closed out another 9-0 early run with a layup for a 12- point advantage and Bay Path never pulled closer.
