Blue Jays Soar Past the Wildcats

LONGMEADOW, Mass.—The Wildcats of Bay Path fell 7-0 to the Blue Jays of St. Joseph in NCAA Division III regional women's soccer action this afternoon at Ryan Field on the south campus of Bay Path.

Junior midfielder Stacey Rutledge (Meriden, Conn.) led the way for the Blue Jays scoring twice for the contest.  Freshman forward Patricia Nolan (Portland, Conn.) struck first and netted the eventual game winner in the 12th minute of play in a one on two situation.

Four other Blue Jays notched goals for the contest including sophomore defender Kristen Whitman (South Windsor, Conn.), senior forward Eva Peart (Bloomfield, Conn.). Peart tallied three points adding an assist to the third goal in the 25th minute.  Coming off the bench two other freshman teammates Tiana Saraceno (Plainville, Conn.) and Danielle Duquette (Watertown, Conn.) scored goals.

Senior midfielder Jacqui Siddle (Palmer, Mass.) tallied three shots for Bay Path. Two first year keepers split time between the sticks for the Wildcats. Freshman Ashley Ralston suffered the loss allowing six goals with five saves. Junior Janise Shabazz (New Castle, Del.) came in for the second half and gave a valiant effort only allowing one goal in the final five seconds of play. Shabazz had six saves.

St. Joseph's goalie junior Holly Mirabella (Seymour, Conn.) earned the win chipping in two saves.

Bay Path falls to 0-3 on the season, while St. Joseph is now 2-0 overall. The Wildcats will travel to face Johnson State on Saturday the 12th at 1:00 p.m.
