Bay Path defeated in Lasell Tournament consolation game 4-0 by Salve Regina

 

Bay Path University suffer 4-0 loss to Salve Regina in Lasell College Tournament consolation game.

NEWTON, Mass. (8/31/14) – The Salve Regina Seahawks took home a 4-0 victory over the Bay Path Wildcats in the consolation game of the 2014 Lasell College Kick-off Tournament. Salve Regina pushed their record to 1-1 on the season with the victory, while Bay Path slid to 0-2 for the 2014 campaign.

 
Freshmen Francesca Galeazzi (Lynn, Mass.) scored a pair of goals for Salve Regina, who also got tallies from fellow freshmen Raquel Pouliot (Coventry, Conn.) and Lea Adams (Sandwich, Mass.) in the vioctory. Junior Anna Shultz (Higganum, Conn.) added an assist on the afternoon, and senior goalkeeper Angelina Saporito (Bristol, Conn.) made a pair of saves to improve to 1-1 on the season in net.


Sophomore Alma Rizvani (Prospect, Conn.) put together another outstanding performance in goal for Bay Path, recording 15 saves on the afternoon to register 26 for the tournament. Freshmen Elena Helming (Maplewood, N.J.) and freshmen Angela Ferrentino (Agawam, Mass.) each created scoring chances for Bay Path on the offensive side of the ball.


Galleazzi put Salve Regina in front 1-0 in the 52nd minute with an unassisted tally, then scored on a feed from Shultz in the 58th minute to make it a 2-0 scoreline. Unassisted tallies by Pouliot and Adams in the 79th and 85th minutes respectively produced the 4-0 final margin.


Lasell junior Molly Masiero was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player following a pair of superb performances, providing outstanding box-to-box play in the midfield and organizing the Lasers throughout the tournament.

She was joined on the All-tournament team by Bridget Lynch, Megan Cullen and Mackenzie Kingman of Lasell, freshmen Taylor Farland, junior Jennifer Wilson and senior Beverly Cole of Keene State, freshmen Francesca Galeazzi and junior Alexis Pike of Salve Regina, freshmen Elena Helming and sophomore Alma Rizvani of Bay Path College.
