Student-Athlete Advisory Council

Mission Statement:  The mission of the Bay Path College Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) is to educate and promote to students  the total experience of athletics and fitness in their educational process.

Policies:  The Bay Path College SAAC is represented by two members of each of the five varsity teams on campus.  Two additional members represent the area of fitness; they are not associated with any teams.  The chairperson of the group is as the Presidential Ambassador to the athletic office.  Sub-committees are developed to help in the administration of the projects.  This group of thirteen representatives has the following goals:

  • Promoting athletics and fitness to the entire college community.
  • Developing and maintaining community service relationships.
  • Organizing the annual Girls & Womens Sports Day
  • Coordinating the Fitness Week in the fall semester.
  • Contributing with annual team and athletic council fundraising efforts.
  • Developing and reviewing policies pertaining to student-athlete athletic codes of honor, academic requirements, and safety concerns.
  • Input into the design and nature of the athletic department web page.
  • Enhance the relationship between student-athletes and coaches, staff and medical personnel, who are working with the teams.
  • Develop future programming for the student-athletes.
  • Attending games and supporting other teams and activities.

Procedures:  The SAAC members are responsible for attending two meetings a month, bringing information both to their team and from the team.  They also are responsible for generating support for the activities stated above.  The chairperson is responsible for the meeting agendas and conducting the meetings.  The Director of Athletics is the advisor to the group.  The Director meets on a regular basis with the chairperson and sub-committee members to get updates and present pertinent information to the representatives.

There will be thirteen active members on the council each semester, each member will have one vote.  All student-athletes are encouraged to attend meetings and become involved in the various activities throughout the year.  A voting member will be dismissed from her position as a representative on the council if she misses two or more meetings during a semester.
