Bay Path College Women's Basketball 2007-2008

The 2007-2008 Bay Path College Wildcats Basketball Season is shaping up to be one of the most highly anticipated seasons in a long time.  With key returning players Senior Chrissy Ordyna (14 ppg), Senior Laila Falkenberg (9 ppg) and Sophomore Jessica Hunt (17 ppg) leading the way along with highly touted recruits Jessica El-Kaudeyr (Hampton, GA) and Samantha Hahn (Hadley, MA) the Lady Wildcats will definitely be turning many heads this year.  Theis team is loaded with individuals that understand their roles and have a strong work ethic.

"Through commitment, hard work and dedication we will continue to build on all our small success's we had last year and finally put Bay Path on the map as a basketball college," says Coach R.J. toner.  While building a strong foundation and a commitment to academics these young ladies will be prepared for all aspects of adversity both on and off the court.

We have developed two mottos this year that we live by at practice and during games.  The first is "No Excuses," there is a way to get it done, so we must find it and execute and the second is "Find a way," because challenging ourselves in times of adversity will help these young ladies battle through all aspects of life.

Bay Path opened it's season in Red Hook, NY, at the Bard College Tip-Off Tournament on November 17th and 18th.  They faced a very tough Rivier team and battled relentlessly but would come up on the losing side in their first game.  "Even though this game did not go as we expected, the biggest thing I  took away from this game was our ability to battle for 40 minutes and not give up." On Sunday they squared off against Lancaster Bible (PA) in the consolatioin game and were out to prove a point.  The Wildcats came out shooting and played exceptional defense taking a 16 point lead into the half.  The second half was a lot like the first and Bay Path College would pick up its first win of the season 79-56.  Sophomore Jessica Hunt (Madison, CT) scored a career high 37 points and pulled down 19 rebounds breaking the previous scoring record at Bay Path of 36 and the most free-throws ever made in a game, making 9.  "Jessica is one of the most coachable young ladies I have ever coached, she is dedicated to improving all aspects of her game and is a truee leader out there on the floor."  Senior captain Chrissy Ordyna chipped in with 17 points and 13 rebounds to help improve Bay Path to 1-1.  "Watching Chrissy improve over this last year has been a joy.  Her work ethic is unlike anyone's I have ever seen before."  Laila Falkenberg chipped in with some key buckets and dished out nine assists.  "Laila is committed to getting things done the right way and is very confident.  She is going to be detrimental to our success this year."
