NAC Women's Soccer Championship Seeding Announced

With an overall record of 12-4-2 including a 9-1-1 conference mark, Castleton State College will enter the upcoming North Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Tournament as the top seed. The Spartans will host eighth seeded Lasell (6-7-2 overall, 5-4-2 NAC) when tournament play begins this Saturday, October 29. This contest will be a rematch of the final regular season game played Wednesday in Castleton, Vt.; a contest won by the home squad 4-2.

Second seed Maine-Farmington (10-4-3 overall, 9-1-2 NAC) will host seventh seeded Thomas (8-7 overall, 6-5 NAC). The Terriers, who are making their first conference tournament appearance, fell 4-0 at home to UMF earlier this fall.

Defending NAC Champion Bay Path earned the third seed with a 7-2-2 record in conference play. The Wildcats (11-5-2) will play host to Elms College (8-5-2 overall, 7-3-1 NAC) on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. The Blazers, who finished tied for fourth in the conference standings but are seeded sixth following predetermined tiebreakers, defeated Bay Path 2-0 earlier this season.

Fifth seed Husson (8-7-3 overall, 6-2-3 NAC) will travel to fourth seed Maine Maritime (9-6-1 overall, 7-3-1 NAC) for a quarterfinal contest. Their regular season contest ended in a 1-1 tie after the game was called at the end of regulation due to weather.

The top eight teams qualify for the NAC Championship. Predetermined tiebreaking procedures were used to seed teams with identical conference winning percentages. Quarterfinal games will be played on Saturday, October 29 at 1:00 p.m. at the higher seed. Quarterfinal winners will advance to the semifinals held at the higher seed on Tuesday, November 1 at 2:00 p.m. Semifinal winners will meet Saturday, November 5 at the highest remaining seed. Game times are subject to change. The NAC Champion receives an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Championship.
