NAC Tennis Player of the Year
LONGMEADOW, MA— Raquel Babeu, a junior at Bay Path College
from North Adams, was named Player of the Year and took home the
individual championship in first-flight singles at the NCAA North
Atlantic Conference women’s tennis championship this past
weekend. Babeau won the finals match, winning 7-5, 6-1 over Becker
College’s Allison Flynn. Babeau, who has been strong all
season long, had been named player of the week for two times during
the regular season.
Bay Path finished third in the NAC tournament hosted by Castleton
State College in Castleton, Vermont. The Wildcats completed the
regular season with a conference-best record of 3-0 and an overall
record of 11-4.
In addition to being named Player of the Year, Babeau was also
named to the All-Conference Singles-First Team along with teammate
Julia Bendzin, a sophomore from Poestenkill, New York. Bendzin and
doubles partner Kara Fox, a sophomore from Biddeford, Maine,
received doubles honorable mention. The Bay Path team also garnered
the Sportsmanship Award.
