Bay Path Splits with Anna Maria and Castleton

PAXTON, Mass.—In a tri-match hosted by Anna Maria College Bay Path split the day narrowly falling to the host AmCats 3-2 (25-23, 12-25, 14-25, 25-11 and 12-15) while sweeping the Castleton State Spartans in three easy games (25-18, 25-13, 16). Senior middle hitter Nadine Harkless (Westfield, Mass.) led the way for the day hitting .314 with 22 kills, seven blocks, six aces and five block solos.

Junior setter Ashley Provost (Ludlow, Mass.) helped anchor the Wildcats who finished the week above .500 going 2-1. For the day she average 4.00 assists per game (32 assists) and while adding seven service aces and 12 digs.

Harkless led the Wildcats against the AmCats tallying a .265 attack percentage with 13 kills.  Sophomore middle hitter Kate Bartels (Dalton, Mass.) was close behind with eight kills  and freshman outside hitter Allie Esquivel (Irving, Tex.) chipped in six kills.

Harkless led all hitters in the Castleton match with a sizzling .412 attack percentage. Newcomer outside hitter Kacie Bayreuther (East Lyme, Conn.) was second on the team with a .235 hitting percentage. Esquivel led defensively with eight digs.

For the eight sets, four Wildcats notched double figures in digs including Harkless, Esquivel Bayreuther and senior outside hitter Vanessa Chaplin (Attleboro, Mass.).

Bay Path is now 2-5 on the season. The Wildcats will host Albertus Magnus on Thursday, September 15th at 7:00 p.m. in their first home stand.
