Wildcats Fall to BlueJays in Season Opener

HOLYOKE, Mass.-  The Wildcats of Bay Path University opened up the 2015 women's volleyball season under new head coach and four-year stand-out Kaycie Bayreuther hosting the BlueJays of the University of Saint Joseph. Saint Joseph took the match in three straight sets 25-116, 25-10 and 25-16. Despite the tough loss sophomore middle hitter Lauren Vallee (Bristol, Conn.) led her team with a seven kills and a .400 attack percentage.

The BlueJays were topped by sophomore outside hitter Tiffany Mapusaga (Waianae, Hawaii) with seven kills and a match high six service aces.  Teammate and fellow outside hitter freshman Sarah Lipinski (Farmington, Conn.) chipped in six kills and two digs for a .214 hitting percentage. Freshman setter Myranda Williams (Seymour, Conn.) finished with 21 assists.

Senior middle hitter Elizabeth Haylette (Terryville, Conn.) finished with six kills for the Wildcats. Defensively, freshman setter Lexi Sears (Agawam, Mass.) added five digs.

The Wildcats are now 0-1 on the season while the BlueJays are 1-0. Bay Path will be back in action on Saturday hosting a tri-math against Pine Manor and Johnson State beginning at 10:00 a.m.
