Bay Path Sails Past Mariners 9-0 in NECC Action

LONGMEADOW, Mass.-The Bay Path College Wildcats handed a 9-to-0 shutout of New England Collegiate Conference(NECC) opponent the Mariners of Mitchell College 9-0 today in wet, foggy weather today in women's tennis action.

Bay Path takes all three doubles matches with junior Symone Watson (Hamden, Conn.) and her partner sophomore Stephanie Morin (Springfield, Mass.) winning the No.1 flight 8-2.

Junior Teanna Montoya (Edgartown, Mass.)  and Abigail Janneke (Waterbury Conn.) won the No.2 doubles 8-3, while the freshman duo  Brittany Walsh (North Smithfield, R.I.) and Taylor Wood (Castleton, N.Y) again won 8-0 shutting down their opponents.

In singles action, NECC Player of the Week Watson defeated junior Carly Paterson (Gales Ferry, Conn.) 6-0, 6-2 in the No.1 spot.  Morin took junior Alexa Litwak (Dix Hills, N.Y.) 6-2, 6-0 in No.2 singles.  Both No.3 and No. 5 singles were swept 6-0, 6-0 by freshmen Walsh and Wood.

In No. 4 singles action, Montoya defeated sophomore Jennifer Schmidt (Clarksburg, Mass.) 6-1, 6-1. In the final set Janneke beat freshman Jordyn Murphy (Vernon, Conn.) 6-1, 6-2.
 

Bay Path is now 9-2 overall and 4-1, while Mitchell falls to 2-6 on the season and 2-4 in the NECC.
