Doiron selected to lead the Bay Path University

Longmeadow, Mass. -

Bay Path University is pleased to announce the hiring of Richard Doiron as the new Head Cross-Country Coach beginning with the 2018 season.  "We are pleased with the passion and drive that Coach Doiron expressed during the hiring process, his experience and qualifications helped him stand-out" said Steve Smith, Director of Athletics. "Coach will hit the ground running to get his team ready for the Fall 2018 campaign" per Smith.

Doiron comes with an expansive background in coaching cross-country runners and teams throughout his career. He began is coaching career in 1987 as Head Women's Track & Field Coach at Westfield State College and from 1987-1991 was the Head Men's Cross-country and Associate Head Track & Field Coach at Westfield State.  From 2013-2015 he was the Boy's Cross-country and track & Field Coach at Westfield High School where he had 28 state qualifiers in Cross-Country and other track & field events.

Coach Doiron is a 1985 U-Mass, Amherst grad, earning a B.A. in Sports & Fitness Management and then went on to get his M. Ed. in Athletic Adminstration from Springfield College in 1992.  He is a USA Track & Field Level 1 Coach, has certification as a USTFCCCA Track & Field Technical Coach and is a certifies USATF Certified track official.
