Athletics: Fall Season Wildcat Wrap-up

This fall athletics season has marked many ups and downs as are usual for the world of athletics. With the end of the season All-NECC Conference Selections and awards out, several of our very own Bay Path Wildcats were honored.

Cross Country:

Supporting the largest roster size in Bay Path Cross Country history, the team ended the season placing 5th in the Conference. Welcoming Coach Amanda Rodriguez in her first season as Head Coach, the Bay Path College Cross Country Team won the NECC Team Sportsmanship Award. Coach Rodriguez and the program are looking forward to the addition of next season's recruits to help strengthen the team.

Field Hockey:

While the Field Hockey team ended the season in an unfavorable position, senior Maeghan Whitcomb (St. Johnsbury, VT) was honored with a NECC First Team All-Conference award. With only graduating two seniors, Coach Katie Jones is looking to add some new talent and numbers to the returning roster and do some damage next year.

Soccer:

New to the helm this season, Coach Nick Chapman and the Bay Path soccer team missed the conference playoffs by a tie breaker decision. With a surge of players this year, the team peaked with a roster of 21. However, with a majority of the players being first-years and sophomores, and only two seniors, the team struggled to find their rhythm until the end of the season. Although no individual All-Conference awards were received. The team did receive the NECC Sportsmanship Award.

Tennis:

As one of our winning programs, our tennis team places 2nd in the Conference Championships. Coach Steve Morneau was able to get several talented players on the NECC All-Conference Teams. For singles; Symone Watson (Hamden, CT) received First Team All-Conference selection, and Stephanie Morin (Springfield, MA) receive All-conference Honorable Mention. For Doubles; Sarah Costa (Tiverton, RI)/Symone Watson received First Team All-Conference selection, and Lianna Loviett (Gorham, ME)/Stephanie Morin received All-Conference Honorable Mention. With only three seniors leaving, Coach Morneau is looking forward to building off of the returning players.

Volleyball:

Unlike many of the other teams this season who saw a surge in roster size, the Bay Path College Volleyball Team saw a drop in numbers.  They completed the season with only eight players. Un-phased by this turn of events, Coach Natalie Stothart led the team to the second round of the Conference tournament after ending the regular season third overall. All this was a leap from the 6th place finish last season. Nadine Harkless (Westfield, MA) was selected to First Team NECC All-Conference while the team polished off the season by earning the NECC Team Sportsmanship Award. Losing only one senior and adding some new talent, Coach Stothart is excited about the seasons to come.
