Wildcats Drop Two to Blue Jays

LONGMEADOW, Mass.- Bay Path hosted the University of Saint Joseph in an NCAA Division III regional softball double header and fell 8-2 in the opener and 9-6 in the nightcap. Senior shortstop Lauren Vallee (Bristol, Conn.) led the Wildcats going 5-for-8 with three runs on the day including a double and a triple.

The Wildcats are now 7-9 on the season, while Saint Joseph advances to 6-6 overall.

In the opener, the Blue Jays sophomore catcher McKenna Driscoll (Bristol, Conn.) led the rally to defeat the wildcats after a 1-to-1 tied game. Driscoll launched a grand slam over the left field fence in the top of the fourth to win the game. Driscoll finished 2-for-4 with four RBI. Sophomore hurler Amaria Sharon (Tolland, Conn.) picked up the win allowing only two runs on eight hits; he fanned two and walked one for her seven innings of work.

Vallee along with freshman infielder Kayla Vance (Clifton, N.J.) tallied multiple base hits with Vance adding one of the two RBI.

Junior pitcher Madison Goodhart (Pawtucket, R.I.) suffered the loss giving up eight runs, six earned, on 12 hits.  She struck out one batter.

In the night cap Bay Path's Vallee, Vance and Goodhart each tallied two hits. Freshman outfielder Camielle Keith (Pawtucket, R.I.), also had two hits.

Junior outfielder Marissa Sarna-McCarthy (Westhampton, Mass.) led the way with 3 RBI. Junior infielder Katrina Peck (Newington, Conn.) added two RBI.

Freshman Felicia Gaillardetz (Londonderry, N.H.) tossed seven innings giving up nine runs (eight earned) on 13 hits. She took the loss walking five and striking out one batter.

Saint Joseph pitcher Alessandra Milardo (Plantsville, Conn.) faced 37 batters giving up six runs on eleven hits. She walked four and struck out three batters for the victory. Sharon once again helped lead the way for the Blue Jays going 3-for-3 adding three RBI. Not far behind was sophomore catcher Megan Ricci (Center Moriches, N.Y.) going 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBI.
