Bay Path Advances in NECC Softball Action with 5-2 win over Mitchell

LONGMEADOW, Mass - The Bay Path University softball team beat Mitchell College 5-2 in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) tournament first round today. The Wildcats were led by senior Lauren Vallee (Bristol, Conn.) going 2-for-4 on the day, with a double and a home run, and 2 RBI's and three runs scored.

The Wildcats first got on the board in the first inning with two runs. The first run came from Vallee off of a bunt from Cameille Keith (Pawtucket, RI). The second run of the inning came from Keith when Taylor Feraco (Oxford, Mass.) singled to the shortstop. Another run came in the bottom of the second from Vallee. Two more runs came in the bottom of the fourth from Vallee's home run. The Mariners were scoreless through five innings until Danielle Autieri (North Salem, NY) doubled to center field sending Samantha Delconte (Enfield, Conn.) home for their first run of the game. Mitchell's second run came when Laurissa Amaker (North Haven, Conn.) scored on Stephanie Adams' (White Plains, Md.) single to right field.

Keith went 2-for-3 with two runs, two hits and two RBIs. Bay path pitcher, Felicia Gaillardetz (Londonberry, NH), struck out eight and walked one in 7.0 innings.

The Wildcats improve to 21-14 while the Mariners fall to 14 -21. Bay Path will travel to # 2 seed Becker College on Thursday, May 3 at 3:00pm.
