Maine Maritime Picked to Win NAC Women's Basketball Title
Maine Maritime was chosen by the league's coaches as the North Atlantic Conference women's basketball preseason favorite. The Mariners, led by head coach Craig Dagan, received 11 first place votes and 167 points in the NAC women's basketball preseason poll. Maine Maritime returns three all-conference first team selections including tow -time NAC Player of the Year Alyssa Burns. The senior forward finished thrid in the conference in scoring (17.9 ppg) and topped the league shooting 50.9% from the floor. Burns, along with returning seniors Shelley Gott-Stilwell and Julia Knights, led the Mariners to a 16-1 mark during the regular season. MMA fell to Maine-Farmington in the NAC championship game but played in the NCAA tournament as an at-large selection.
