Wildcats claw past Wildcats 69-50 in NECC Action.

Holyoke, Mass. – Wheelock College sophomore teammates Michelle Woods (Wilmington, Mass.) and Katie Alsip (Quincy, Mass.) combined to score 43 points as the Wildcats earned a 69-50 victory over Bay Path University in Saturday afternoon's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's basketball game at the Bartley Center.

With the win, Wheelock improves to 7-10 overall an 5-5 in the NECC, while Bay Path falls to 2-10 overall and 2-6 in conference action.

Leading 31-17 at halftime, a trio of 3 pointers by three different Bay Path players helped close to within 10 points with just over nine minutes to play but could not close the gap. That's as close as Bay Path would get however, as Wheelock continued to maintain a lead of at least ten points.

Dallas Jackson (Springfield, Mass.) finished with 18 points and four steals, Frankie Wauneka (Easthampton, Mass.) hauled in a team-best 11 rebounds and Brenna Roy (Stafford Springs, Conn.) had eight lead Bay Path in defeat.

Woods led all scorers with 29 points, including hitting 11-13 free throws, Alsip had 14 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists in a winning effort.

Bay Path is back in action on Tuesday, February 3 when it travels to Mitchell College for a 7:30 pm NECC game. Wheelock College plays Lesley University at 8 pm on February 8, 2015.
