Regis beats Wildcats in NECC Action

Springfield, Mass.- The Wildcats of Bay Path University hosted the Pride of Regis College in NECC women's tennis action, falling 9-0 this afternoon.  The tandem of seniors Brittany Walsh (North Smithfield, R.I.) and Taylor Wood (Castleton, N.Y.) playing at the #1 spot fell 3-8 to junior Jessie Lord (Fall River Mass.) and junior Erica Murphy (Portsmouth, N.H.).

The Pride's #2 doubles team of freshmen Katasha Jarvis Mt. Vernon, NY) and junior Emily Rice (Pittsfield, Mass.) bested the combo of sophomore Katie Leibowitz (Tolland, Conn.) and senior Katrina Mannion (Lawrence, Mass.) by a tally of 8-1.

In the #3 doubles matchup, Regis senior Jewel Medeiros (Rochester, Mass.) and sophomore Sara Kanarkiewicz (Peabody, Mass.) posted an 8-2 triumph over seniors Kimberly Drahushuk (Hudson, N.Y.) and Yismel Rosario (Methuen, Mass.)

Regis won all six singles matches, headlined by Lord's 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Walsh at the #1 spot, and Murphy's 6-1, 6-1 victory over Wood at #2.

In the #3 match, Rice topped Rosario 6-1, 6-2, while Jarvis defeated Leibowitz 6-0, 6-3, in the #4 position.

Medeiros upended Edna Aboagye (Wappingers Falls, N,Y.)  6-1, 6-0 at #5, while Amy DiPace (Cambridge, Mass.) bested Mannion 6-0, 6-0 at the #6 spot to close out the scoring.

Next up for Bay Path (0-4) will host Lesley University on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Regis (3-0) will host Newbury College Saturday at noon.
