Wildcats Defeat Hawks 3-0 in Senior Night Victory

Senior Kacie Bayreuther Concludes her Career as All-Time Digs Leader

 HOLYOKE, Mass. – Senior Libero Kacie Bayreuther (East Lyme, Conn.) makes her mark in Bay Path Volleyball's history book becoming the all-time digs leader with 1,416 career digs along with setting the single game record this week with 37 digs. Bayreuther also managed to lead her team to a 3-0 victory over the Hawks of Becker College in a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) match at the Bartley Center on the campus of Holyoke Community College tonight in the Wildcats final game of the 2014 campaign.

The Wildcats took all three sets 25-23, 25-21 and 25-19. Bayreuther served the final two points in her final match along with starting the match with a bang notching the 25th point in the first set with an Ace. Bayreuther finished with a match high 21 digs.

Junior middle hitter Elizabeth Haylette (Terryville, Conn.) and freshman middle hitter Lauren Vallee (Bristol, Conn.) each topped all players with 13 kills.  Haylette led the way with a .242 attack percentage, while Vallee pitched in 12 digs for a double double.

Bay Path led the way defensively with a team 69 digs to Becker's 49 for the match. Sophomore right side hitter Jennifer Pham (Springfield, Mass.) chipped in 18 digs and three service aces. Sophomore setter Aaliyah Gordon (Springfield, Mass.) who dished out 22 assists to lead all players added 7 digs. Freshman outside hitter Paige Willis (Williamstown, Mass.) was a force at the serve with five aces knotting with Vallee.
 
Becker was led by freshman Kirsti Hadzewycz (Daytona Beach, Fla.) with six kills. Defensively, freshman Libero Chase Peterson (Redding, Conn.) topped her team with 19 digs.

Bay Path concludes 2014 with a 5-17 overall record and 2-6 in the NECC, while Becker finishes with a 7-20 record and 3-4 in conference play, the Hawks should make the post-season in the NECC tourney.

 

Bayreuther concludes her collegiate career playing in all but one match in her four years (94 of 95) with a 1,416 digs, 189 kills, 58 assists and 111 service aces. She is a two time All- NECC member and the 2012 NECC Defensive Player of the Year.
