By Path Drops a Pair of Matches to John Jay College

LONGMEADOW, Mass. –

The Bay Path University women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to visiting John Jay College in non-conference action at the Longmeadow Adult Center Gymnasium Friday night. The Wildcats dip to 1-2 on the season, while the Bloodhounds open the season with a 2-0 mark.

 In the opening match, John Jay swept Bay Path in three straight sets, 25-14, 25-17, and 25-18. In the final match, the Wildcats overcame a 27-25 loss in the first set to claim a 25-16 win the second set. John Jay won the final two sets of the match to earn the 3-1 victory.

 In the first match, first year Anastasyia Tsetko (Horsham, Penn.) paced the Bay Path attack with a team-high five kills, two digs and a service ace. First years Janaye Cunningham (Brentwood, N.Y.) and ZaLeah Gardner (Raymondville, Texas) each added two kills, while junior Zyiasia Knighton (Springfield, Mass.) grabbed a team-high eight digs with two aces. During the nightcap, Tsetko tallied 11 kills with five digs and three aces, while sophomore Lilly Kibbe (Ware, Mass.) registered seven kills and five digs. First year Michelle Santiago (Springfield, Mass.) dished out 10 assists in the four-set loss.

 John Jay was powered by sophomore Faith Harer (Bremerton, Wash.) with a match-high 12 kills in the opener, followed by a 10-kill effort in the second match. Sophomore Rylea Sandel totaled 15 kills in two sets, while classmates Johnelle Pierre (Elizabeth, N.J.) and Paige Sadowitz (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) added 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Sophomore Meghan Smith (Farmingville, N.Y.) racked up 38 assists in match one, and then 28 assists in the final match.

 The Wildcats will look to return to the win column when they travel to Clark University for a tri-match against the host Cougars and Elms College. Bay Path faces Clark at Noon, followed by a clash with the Blazers at 2:00 p.m
