Bay Path Sweeps Becker
Bay Path rallied from a 5-2 deficit to defeat Becker College
(11-6) in women’s softball action.
In the second inning, the Becker College Hawks scored three runs,
capped by an RBI single from Leann Norrman of Auburn, MA. However,
the Bay Path Wildcats recovered with two runs in the top of the
third inning on an RBI double from Sarah Palmer of Topsham, ME,
allowing Sarah Gates of Crown Point, IN, and Sarah Wright of
Canterbury, NH, to cross home plate.
Becker went ahead 5-2 when Leann Norrman singled to left field,
plating two more runs. However, Bay Path answered back in the fifth
inning with Kate Lowy of South Burlington, VT, driving an RBI
single to center field. With two runners on, Jessica Priestly of
Middleboro, MA, hit a homerun to left center, giving the Wildcats
their first lead of the game.
The Wildcats added four more runs in the sixth inning, making the
score 11-5. The Hawks’ Felicia Laufer of Salem, CT, tried to
rally the Hawks back in the seventh inning with her first homerun
of the season. Unfortunately, the Becker rally was put to a halt,
as the Wildcats won 11-6.
Bay Path’s Kristal Cormier of Rochester, NH, pitched a
complete to earn the game one win.
In game two, Bay Path jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and never
looked back, as the Wildcats rolled to a 17-2 win. Despite scoring
17 runs, the Wildcats only had 7 hits. Becker pitchers allowed 17
walks in game two, including 11wild pitches.
Lowy led the Wildcats’ attack, going two for three with three
RBIs. Jess Nizinski of Springfield, MA, pitched five strong innings
to earn the win in game two. Bay Path improved to 12-9 overall and
4-0 in the NECC.
