Bay Path College Announces New Coaching Staff for Women's Basketball

Longmeadow, MA - Bay Path College is pleased to announce the hiring of a new women's basketball coaching staff to lead the program at the college.

David Chatzky or Rocky Hill, CT, was recently hired to serve as head coach of the Wildcats basketball team.  Chatzky comes to Bay Path College from Wentworth Institute of Technology, where he served as assistant women's basketball coach.

"I'm very excited to be at such a fine academic institution in a great location here at Bay Path.  There is great potential here and I look forward to bringing success to this prgram through development of the student-sthletes currently on the team and recruiting new student-athletes who are strong both in basketball and academics," said Coach Chatzky.

Coach Chatzky brings 15 years of basketball coaching experience with him to Bay Path College.  Since 1991, he has worked with scholastic and collegiate basketball teams in the United States such as Manchester Community College (CT) and New Britain High School (CT); and professional basketball teams in the United States and Europe including the New England Blizzard (ABL), Springfield Spirit (NWBL), Brevard Blue Ducks (USBL), and the CT Pride (CBA).  Additionally, he has coached at prominent basketball camps and tournaments around the country.

Chatzky earned a B.A. from Central Connecticut State University.  He studied coaching, communication, athletics, and leadership, and was a Dean's List student in each of his last three semesters.  He is currently completing his master's degree in counseling and student development in higher education at CCSU.

Mary Romano was recently hired to serve as assistant women's basketball coach.  She graduated from Mt. Holyoke College, where she captained the women's basketball team while earning a B.A. in neuroscience and behavior.  She earned her Professional MBA degree a the University of Massachusetts and is currently an associate director at MassMutual Retirement Services.

She previously was the assistnat women's basketball coach at Western New England College, working for three years with head coach Wendy Davis, the former UConn Husky women's basketball player.
