Bay Path Breaks Out Against Thomas

Bay Path College Women's Basketball charged out of the gates on Saturday night by takinga lead at the opening tip-off and remianing competitive for much of the first half on fast break attacks, often finished by Eva Kulikowski (Hadley, MA; Hopkins Academy).  Kulikowski had 8 points by half-time.  All of the Bay path players who saw action in the frist half got into the scoring column.

Yet it wasn't enough to break even with Thomas College, which was led by the hot hand of Kim Drosdik (Farmington, ME; Mt. Blue H.S.) who had 17 at half-time with the score Thomas 51, Bay Path 32.  The 32 points were the most scored in a hlaf by Bay Path all year.

The second half saw Sarah Wright (Boscawen, NH; Merrimack Valley H.S.) continue her rebounding effort.  She finished with a season and game high 15 rebounds to go with 6 points and 3 assists.  Chrissy Ordyna (Great Barrington, MA; Monument Mountain H.S.) continued her double-double routine with 15 rebounds, 17 points, and an additional 2 assists and 1 block.  Hilary Bielunis (Hatfield, MA; Smith Academy) chipped in with 10 rebounds, excellent ball-handling, and defense.  Heidi Lara (Bellingham, MA; Bellingham H.S.) provided excellent ball-handling to help break the press throughout the game.  She also took the ball to the bakset and rebounded the ball.  Jade Kusnierski (Methuen, MA; Central Catholic H.S.) gave Bay Path a lift in the limited minutes she played, scoring 8 points, dishing out 3 assists, and grabbing 2 rebounds.

While a number of the Bay Path players were setting season highs in points and rebounds and the team was setting a season high in point, rebounds, assists, and shot attempts for a game, Toby Martin of Thomas College heated up in the second half and Drosdik continued her hot shooting, going from 6-9 from three point range in the second half to finish the game with a school record 11-15 from three point rnage and 35 points for the game.

Bay Path College takes the court again tomorrow against University of Maine-Farmington at 1 pm at Springfield Technical Community College.
