Wildcats sweep the pair of matches from Castleton State Universiyt and NVU-Lyndon

CASTLETON, Vt. – The Castleton women's volleyball team lost a pair of non-conference matches at home to MCLA (25-12, 25-12, 25-16) and Bay Path (25-19, 25-18, 25-15).

The quad match also featured Northern Vermont University – Lyndon. All four games were played over a two-block span at Castleton.

Following the action on Saturday, the Spartans record drops to 0-5. Castleton opens their Little East Conference (LEC) slate with a home match against UMass Boston on Friday.

 

 

Bay Path 3, Castleton 0  (25-19, 25-18, 25-15)

Lydia Clifford (Coventry, R.I.) led the way with 12 kills and 6 blocks, 14 asssits and 5 service aces; Lexi Cears (Agawam, Mass.) also chipped in with 7 kills, 8 assists and 9 digs in the winning effort.

Brianna Hake assisted on nine Spartan kills, while also collecting 13 digs. Zawatsky came through for a season-high 31 digs.

 

Bay Path 3, NVU-Lyndon 0 (25-11, 25-12, 25-13)

The Wildcats controlled the match throughout, cruising to wins in each set.  Shanikqua Thompson Hamden, Conn.) led Bay Path with seven kills, while Latonia Hornsby (Springfield,, Mass.) recorded 12 assists and Joanne Nazario (Springfield, Mass.) notched 11 digs.  Samantha Theriault (West Ossippee, NH) had four digs for the Hornets while Faith Richard (Acushnet, MA) posted four kills.

 

Bay Path next plays on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at home against Smith College.  Game time is 8 pm.
