LONGMEADOW, Mass.- Bay Path unable to stage comeback after Newbury takes the halted game score of 10-4 from April 21st to conclude the final five innings with a 13-7 victory over the Wildcats. With the win, Newbury completes the New England Collegiate Conference sweep of Bay Path after a 7-4 decision in the opener.

Leicester, Mass.- Becker College swept their New England Collegiate Conference softball doubleheader against Bay Path College, winning the first game in extra innings 8-7 and taking the nightcap comfortably 10-2. In game one Bay Path got on the board with two outs in the top of the first. After Keelin Dougherty (Northfield, N.H.) reached on a single Becker's short stop committed back to back errors, allowing Dougherty to score. The Wildcats added to their lead in the second inning when Kate Lowy (South Burlington, VT.) scored from third base on a wild pitch, putting Bay Path in front 2-0.

BENNINGTON, Vt. – Bay Path College defeated SVC in two games this afternoon. The first game the Mountaineers lost 16-3 and in game two they were defeated 8-3. Katelyn Boyd went the distance in both games for SVC allowing 24 runs on 35 hits. Putnam started for the Wildcats in game one allowing three runs on eight hits. In the nightcap, Dougherty pitched for Bay Path allowing three runs on nine hits.

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms College senior pitcher Destinee Meeker (Bantam, Conn.) struck out three in six innings in game one and junior pitcher Courtney Hampton (Westfield, Mass.) tossed five strikeouts in seven innings of game two to help lift the Blazers to a doubleheader sweep of Bay Path College in Saturday afternoon's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) softball action at Cheryl R. Condon Field. Elms won the first game 9-1 in six innings and followed that with a 5-1 victory in game two to improve to 10-9 overall, 4-0 in NECC action. Bay Path falls to 7-9 on the season, 1-3 in league play.

LONGMEADOW, Mass.—The Wildcats of Bay Path hosted the Trailblazers of Mass. College of Liberal Arts in NCAA DIII Regional women’s softball action with the Trailblazers having the home at-bat advantage. This was originally scheduled to be played at MCLA, but with an unplayable field Bay Path offered the olive branch and hosted their Northern neighbors. MCLA swept Bay Path winning game one 10-0 in five innings and taking the nightcap 6-4 for the day.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Bay Path College freshman pitcher/utility Keelin Dougherty (Northfield, N.H.) went 3-0 on the week for the Wildcats tossing 19.0 innings of complete game appearances. Bay Path went 5-1 on the week sweeping Albertus Magnus (13-2, 20-13) and Green Mountain (6-5, 10-5), while splitting with NECC opponent Daniel Webster (0-1 and 10-4). Dougherty played in all six games.

LONGMEADOW, Mass.—In the New England Collegiate Conference softball opening weekend of play Bay Path split with Daniel Webster falling 1-0 in the opening game while taking the nightcap 10-4. The Wildcats outscored the Eagles by five runs on the day with freshman pitcher/infielder Keelin Dougherty (Northfield, N.H.) leading the way batting .500. Dougherty also added four runs and three stolen bases, while notching the complete game victory with five strike-outs.

LONGMEADOW, Mass.—The Wildcats of Bay Path College hosted the Eagles of Green Mountain College in NCAA Division III regional action after the Eagles were unable to play on their home turf due to weather. The Wildcats swept the Eagles taking the opener 6-5 and winning the nightcap 10-5.Bay Path was lead by senior infielder Kate Lowy (South Burlington, Vt.) who batted .667 on the day going 4-for-6 with two runs and two RBI.

West Haven, Ct.— The Wildcats of Bay Path College swept the Falcons of Albertus Magnus 20-13 in the opener and 13-2 in the nightcap of a night doubleheader. Senior outfielder, Katie Begin (Weare, N.H.) led the Wildcats with 5 hits, 5 rbi’s and 5 runs scored in the two games. Bay Path is now 4-4 overall, while Albertus Magnus falls to 0-8 on the season. Bay Path will play Saturday, April 2 at Green Mountain College and opens its New England Collegiate Conference play on Sunday April, 3rd at 1:00 p.m. at home vs. Daniel Webster College.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Bay Path College freshman catcher/infielder Mercedes Griffith (Malden, Mass.) made an immediate impact in her first week of play with three homeruns in a 27-14 victory over Wheelock in a non-conference game. Griffith batted a sizzling .647, had a 1.412 on base percentage and a .667 slugging percentage in six games.

LONGMEADOW, Mass.—Bay Path College hosted New England Collegiate Conference rival Wheelock College in a non-conference twin bill today. Both Wildcats split the day with Bay Path taking the opener 27-14, while Wheelock earned the victory in the night cap 15-14. Bay Path’s freshman catcher/infielder Mercedes Griffin (Malden, Mass.) led all players with a .889 batting average going 8-for-9, with nine RBI, seven runs , three doubles and three homeruns.

LONGMEADOW, Mass.—In Bay Path College’s first home double header action the Wildcats were able to split the day winning the first one 15-6 in six innings, only to allow the Johnson State Badgers to wage a comeback in the sixth inning of the nightcap overcoming the Wildcats 15-13 today in NCAA Division III regional action. Bay Path was lead by senior outfielder Katie Begin (Weare, N.H.) and freshman infielder Nicole Dexter (Delanson, N.Y.) both batting .800 for the day. Dexter was able to make her collegiate first home stand memorable knocking to home runs for the Wildcats.

NEWTON, Mass. – The Mount Ida College softball team captured both ends of a non-conference twin bill against visiting Bay Path College Thursday afternoon in their 2011 season home opener both by scores of 9-4 on a cold, snow laden day in Newton, Massachusetts. The Mustangs, who just returned from their annual spring break tournament in Clermont, Florida, improve their overall record to 3-6 while the Wildcats start 2011 at 0-2 with neither team yet to compete in a conference bid.
