Game 1 Recap: St. Elizabeth Dominates Bay Path with a Resounding 20-2 Victory

In a commanding display of offensive skill, St. Elizabeth College overwhelmed Bay Path University with a 20-2 victory in their softball matchup on March 3, 2025, at North Myrtle Beach. The game, which lasted just an hour and 25 minutes, showcased St. Elizabeth's batting strength and strategic play.

St. Elizabeth wasted no time establishing their dominance, scoring six runs in the first inning. The team's aggressive start was highlighted by strategic base stealing, with J. Barker stealing home and K. Lutes advancing to second. S. Vanwinkle contributed with a two-RBI triple, and J. Frias and G. Panebianc added to the tally with crucial hits that brought in additional runs.

Bay Path managed to score their first run in the bottom of the first inning thanks to an RBI double by M. Sunderland. However, this was one of the few highlights for Bay Path, as St. Elizabeth's defense and pitching, led by J. Frias, kept them at bay for the remainder of the game.

St. Elizabeth continued to pile on the pressure, scoring three runs in each of the second and third innings, extending their lead to 12-1 by the start of the fourth. In the fifth inning, St. Elizabeth added five more runs, solidifying their commanding lead. J. Garcia's performance was particularly noteworthy, with multiple doubles contributing to his three RBIs. H. Brown also shone with a triple that added to the scoreline.

Bay Path's only other run came in the fourth inning, capitalizing on a throwing error by St. Elizabeth. However, this was not enough to mount a comeback against the relentless St. Elizabeth offense.

In contrast, Bay Path struggled both offensively and defensively, managing only two hits and committing one error. Their pitchers, led by J. Boudreau, faced a tough challenge against St. Elizabeth's relentless lineup.

Game 2 Recap: Bay Path Holds Off Cedar Crest Rally for 8-6 Victory

In a thrilling softball matchup, Bay Path University secured an 8-6 victory over Cedar Crest College, despite a late surge from their opponents. The game, held at Little River, saw Bay Path take an early commanding lead, which they managed to defend against a determined Cedar Crest comeback.

Bay Path's offense exploded in the first two innings, capitalizing on Cedar Crest's fielding errors to score eight unearned runs. The first inning saw Bay Path take advantage of three errors, with C. Austin contributing a crucial two-RBI single. The second inning extended Bay Path's lead to 8-0, aided by further defensive lapses from Cedar Crest.

Cedar Crest, however, did not go down without a fight. Their scoring began in the third inning when E. Christoph's single, coupled with a fielding error, allowed K. Mastillo to score. The fifth inning saw Cedar Crest narrow the gap further as Mastillo tripled, bringing N. Hasert home, and later scored on a wild pitch.

The sixth inning was particularly tense as Cedar Crest capitalized on Bay Path's errors, scoring three more runs. E. Christoph's double was a key hit, driving in N. Hasert and putting Cedar Crest within striking distance at 8-6.

Bay Path's defense held firm in the final inning, with M. Sunderland closing out the game without allowing further runs. K. Kerstetter, who pitched 5.2 innings, was credited with the win, while Cedar Crest's B. Aquila took the loss after a challenging start.

Despite Cedar Crest outhitting Bay Path 8-7, it was the latter's ability to capitalize on early opportunities and errors that secured their victory. The game, attended by 53 spectators, lasted 1 hour and 53 minutes, showcasing the resilience and competitive spirit of both teams.
