Davi Chuong Named NECC Women's Volleyball Defensive Specialist of the Year

Bay Path's junior Libero Davi Chuong (Easthampton, Mass.) nabbed the inaugural 2009 NECC Women's Volleyball Defensive Specialist of the Year. Chuong, a business management major, led the NECC in digs at 113 (4.36 per set) and was 10th in service aces at 19 (0.73 per set). She played in 20 matches with 209 digs, 135 serve receptions and average 1.44 digs per set.

A year removed from earning a share of the New England Collegiate Conference regular season championship, the Daniel Webster College volleyball team kept the crown all for themselves, posting a 3-1 victory in their regular season finale over Bay Path College Saturday afternoon at the Mario Vagge Gymnasium.

HOLYOKE, MA Oct. 24, 2009 – Newbury sophomore outside hitter Tricia Corriveau (Coventry, RI) knocked down a match-high 11 kills and senior setter Sarah Nelson (Bernardston, MA) handed out a team-high 14 assists to lead the visiting Nighthawks to a 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-13) win over Bay Path College in Saturday afternoon’s New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women’s volleyball match at the Bartley Center on the campus of Holyoke Community College.

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms College senior middle hitter Melissa Clark (Chicopee, MA) downed a match-high 10 kills and added 19 digs to help lift the Blazers to a thrilling 3-2 (25-19, 19-25, 25-14, 19-25, 15-5) victory over Bay Path College in Wednesday evening’s New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women’s volleyball match at Picknelly Arena.

CAMBRIDGE, MA – Lesley University hosted the Wildcats of Bay Path College and the Mariners of Mitchell College in a New England Collegiate Conference tri-match. Lesley University got its first conference wins of the year as they won the first match against Mitchell College 3-0 and defeated Bay Path College in the final match of the day 3-0. Mitchell would split on the day as they defeated Bay Path College 3-0 in the second match of the game. Following the tri-match Lesley University improves to 7-11 overall and 2-1 in the NECC, Mitchell College improves to 5-6 overall and 2-2 in the NECC and Bay Path College falls to 1-16 overall and 1-3 in the NECC.

WEST HARTFORD, Conn., Oct. 12, 2009 — St. Joseph College rebounded from two Saturday defeats with a 3-0 sweep of Bay Path Monday night in a non-league match at the O'Connell Center. Game scores were 25-10, 25-23, 25-17.

HOLYOKE, Mass.—Despite the 3-0 loss, Bay Path’s sophomore outside hitter Nadine Harkless (Westfield, Mass.) led the Wildcats with ten kills, eight digs and eleven points. The Wildcats fell 3-0 to the Falcons of Albertus Magnus 25-21, 25-22 and 25-20 in three close sets tonight at the Bartley Center at HCC in NCAA Division III women’s volleyball action.

NEW LONDON, CONN.--Coast Guard, ranked sixth in the New England Women’s Volleyball Association (NEWVA) poll, ran its home winning streak to 25 and remained unbeaten by sweeping a pair of matches. The Bears beat Lesley 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-19) and Bay Path 3-0 (25-3, 25-10, 25-8).

HOLYOKE, Mass.—The Wildcats’ junior libero Davi Chuong (Easthampton, Mass.) led all players with 14 digs despite a 3-0 loss to the Trailblazers of Mass. College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) tonight in NCAA Division III women’s volleyball action at the Bartley Center. MCLA took all three games in just under one hour 25-21, 25-16 and 25-1.

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – The Mount Holyoke College women’s volleyball team kicked off its 2009 home slate with a 3-1 (25-7, 25-16, 21-25, 26-24) triumph over Bay Path College this evening at the Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium. With the win, the Lyons bumped their record to 2-2 on the year. The Wildcats fall to 0-6.

Elms College has been tabbed as the preseason favorite to capture the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women’s volleyball championship, it was announced today by Commissioner Del Malloy. Voting for the preseason poll was conducted among the NECC’s head women’s volleyball coaches.
