Mount Holyoke Spikes Bay Path 3-1
SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (Sept. 17, 2009) - The Mount Holyoke College women's volleyball team kicked off its 2009 home slate with a 3-1 (25-7, 25-16, 21-25, 26-24) triumph over Bay Path College this evening at the Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium. With the win, the Lyons bumped their record to 2-2 on the year. The Wildcats fell to 0-6.
Mount Holyoke was paced by first year outside hitter Morgan Cooley (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth South), who collected 12 kills. Junior setter Kateryna Kuc (New Haven, Conn./Hopkins) piled up 25 assists, while classmate Kara Neidhardt (Middlefield, Conn./Coginchaug) added 14 digs and six service aces.
Both squads are slated to hit the court again on Saturday. Mount Holyoke (2-2, 0-1 NEWMAC) will host Clark University for a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest beginning at 1:00 p.m. Meanwhile, Bay Path (0-6, 0-0 NECC) will face off against the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts at 3:00 p.m. and Bard at 5:00 p.m.
