Wildcats Chomp Gators taking both games of the Double Header Action

LONGMEADOW, Mass.— The Wildcats of Bay Path shut down the Gators of Pine Manor in both game of the regional NCAA III softball action pulling the run rule in both games taking the opener 14-2 and shutting them down 13-0 in the nightcap both games going only five innings. The Wildcats are now 17-13 overall, while Pine Manor falls to 0-20 in the season. Pitching duo Junior Maddie Goodhart (Pawtucket, R.I.) and freshman Kayla Peck (Clifton, N.J.) both tossed the victories. Peck picked up her second collegiate shut-out, while also having a stellar performance at bat going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. Goodhart also had a great second game performance at the plate going 2-for-2 with three RBI.

Six Wildcats each sported multiple hits for the opener today helping lead Bay Path to a 4-2 victory over Pine Manor in five innings of play. Senior short stop Lauren Vallee (Bristol, Conn.) and freshman outfielder Camielle Keith (Pawtucket, R.I.) both went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI. Keith finished with 2 RBI, while Vallee led the way with two doubles.  Sophomore infielder/catcher Lilly West (Goshen, Mass.) went 2-for-2 with three runs and three RBI leading her team in game one.

Goodhart earned the victory tossing five innings allowing only two runs on four hits. She fanned three Gators. Freshman hurler Ashley Smith (Decatur, Ala.) suffered the loss giving up 4 runs on 17 hits, walking three batters. Smith was also only four Gators to hit on the day scoring one run. Senior infielder Ashley Whiteshield (Seward, AK.) tallied the other run adding one hit and one RBI.

Vance topped her team in the night cap leading the way in the circle and at the plate. She earned the shut out for her five innings of work allowing only three hits fanning six batters. Vance also went 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. Vallee, Keith, Goodhart and sophomore Taylor Feraco (Oxford, Mass.) all went 2-for-2, while junior catcher/infielder Katrina Peck (Newington, Conn.) went 2-for-4 for the game.

Freshman pitcher Natalia Faurot (Makakilo, Hawaii) suffered the loss going three innings giving up 12 runs on 13 hits, she walked nine and struck out two batters. Smith closed for the Gators allowing only one run on three hits.
