Defending Champion Regis Picked Atop NECC Women's Basketball Preseason Poll
Regis was chosen by the conference coaches as the favorite for the upcoming women's basketball season. The Pride, who earned 98 points and eight first place votes, return four starters from last year's 23-5 team. Regis, who went unbeaten in regular season play for the second consecutive season will be led by junior guard Emilee Marro and senior forward Claire Ramonas, all-conference honorees last year.
Elms was the coach's second choice with 91 points and two first place votes. The Blazers are looking to make another deep title run under 12th-year head coach Laura Habacker. Elms returns four starters including a pair of all-conference selections, forward Denisha Parks and JC Pickett.
Newbury and Becker tied for third place with 65 points. The Nighthawks return three starters but will need to replace four-time all-conference selection Catherine O'Connell who has graduated. The Hawks return four starters including a pair of seniors Haley Ooms and Tatiana Mojica.
