Wildcats Open Season with 92-70 Loss to Pine Manor In Anna Maria Tournament

Paxton, Mass. – Pine Manor College rode the hot hand of freshman Ari DeJesus (Providence, RI) to an 92-70 victory over Bay Path College in the opening round of the AMCAT Classic Tip-Off on Saturday evening at the Fuller Activities Center.  

 

DeJesus was a perfect 8-for-8 in the first half for 17 points in 13 minutes, the forward would finish with  a double-double 19 points and 12 boards in the victory. Classmate Sybil Lynch (Hoboken, NJ) notched 13 points and grabbed 5 rebounds while Natasia Franklin (Windsor, Conn.) poured in a team high 24 points and added 8 caroms.

 

Bay Path had two players in double figures. Senior Kayla Skiffington (East Longmeadow, Mass.) was 10-for-19 from the floor scoring a game-high 26 points, while sophomore Gladys Reed (Hamden, Conn.) generated 12 points and and 8 rebounds in the loss.

 

Pine Manor advances to the championship game of the AMCAT Classic, which will be against the winner of the Anna Maria Yeshiva game. Bay Path will be playing in the consolation match at noon on Sunday.
