Mariners Sail Past Wildcats

HOLYOKE, Mass.- Despite a tough loss to New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) opponent Mitchell College Mariners, junior forward Dallas Jackson (Springfield, Mass.) led all players with 17 points, 12 rebounds, seven assist, three steals and one block.  The Wildcats fought a tough battle and defensively played tight grabbing 43 team rebounds to the Mariners 44 for the game, time just ran out to soon for the final surge. Mariners prevailed with a final score of 61-54.

Senior forward Chelsea Newman (Manchester, Conn.) topped her team with 17 points, nine rebounds and four steals. The Mariners bench scored 27 points for Mitchell including ten points from senior guard Diamond Thomas (Hartford, Conn.). Coming off the bench, as well, senior forward Amanda Garcia (New Britain, Conn.) tallied eight points. Freshman forward Francesca Pinard (Arlington, Mass.) finished with eight points and eight rebounds.

Junior guard Brenna Roy (Stafford Springs, Conn.) notched her season high with 16 points nailing four from downtown. Coming off the bench, freshman Haleigh Bassett (Millers Falls, Mass.) chipped in 11 points. Senior forward Elizabeth Haylette (Terryville, Conn.) finished with six points, nine rebounds and two blocks.

Mitchell is now 9-8 overall and 8-4 in the NECC, Bay Path is 4-15 on the season and 1-11 in league play.
