Becker Tops Bay Path 2-0 in NECC Women’s Soccer Action

LONGMEADOW, Mass. – The Becker College women's soccer team picked up an important win in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) play, earning a 2-0 victory over Bay Path University Wednesday afternoon at Ryan Field.

Both teams spent the better part of the first half feeling each other out before Becker junior Linsdey Keith (Sutton, Mass.) opened the scoring off a pass from freshman Korra Joubert (Oxford, Mass.) in the 43rd minute to stake the Hawks to a 1-0 advantage. The goal was Keith's 20th of the season, which ranks fourth in NCAA Division III.

Kyra Teixeira would add an insurance goal for Becker in the 81st minute, her sixth of the year, converting a feed from freshman Marissa Felter (Cheshire, Mass.). 

Sophomore Caitlyn Esposito (East Haven, Conn.) grabbed a game-high six saves for Bay Path, while Becker junior Jordyn Martel (Chicopee, Mass.) collected four in a winning effort.

Junior Jailinne Ruiz (Hadley, Mass.) and senior Elena Helming (Maplewood, N.J.) each registered two shots to lead the Wildcats,

Becker (8-6-0 overall, 4-1-0 NECC) claimed an 18-7 edge in shots and a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks. The Hawks are currently tied with Elms College for second place in the NECC, just one-half game behind undefeated Lesley University.

Bay Path (6-4-1, 3-2-0) will return to NECC action in eight days, as the Wildcats host Elms Thursday, October 19 at 4:00 p.m. Becker will host Dean College in an NECC matchup Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
