Wildcats Shut Down Mariners in NECC Action

 

Bay Path Holds Dig Pink Night

EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass.- The Wildcats were led by senior outside hitter Ashlee Connors (Springfield, Mass.) with a stellar .526 attack percentage chipping in ten kills and four digs. Fellow senior and middle hitter Lauren Vallee (Bristol, Conn.) topped all players with 15 kills, three digs and five blocks. The Wildcats took three straight sets from New England Collegiate Conference opponent Mitchell College 25-22, 25-14 and 25-23 for the win. The Wildcats hosted their annual Dig Pink night to raise awareness and money for National Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Junior setter Lexi Cears (Agawam, Mass.) led the way with 26 assists and four digs. Head Coach Pat Annecchiarico with a limited bench played only the six starting players, while the Mariners utilized their large bench rotating five reserves through the match.

Mitchell was topped by senior setter Lauren Tompkins (Prospect, Conn.) with 13 assists and two digs. Sophomore middle blocker Ariana Carter (Central Falls, R.I.) came off the bench to notch team high six kills.  Two Mariners each notched five kills in senior Italia Krick (Griswold, Conn.) and senior Myia Williams (Roselle, N.J.).

Junior middle hitter Taylor Heinbokel (Agawam, Mass.) added four digs, three assists, four service aces and one kill.  Freshman outside hitters' Cameille Keith (Pawtucket, R.I.) and Samantha Leduc (Athol, Mass.) combined for seven kills, while Keith had the game high five digs and three blocks.

 

Bay Path is now 8-10 on the season and 1-3 in the NECC, while Mitchell falls to 1-15 overall and 1-3 in conference. The Wildcats are back in action tomorrow travelling to Becker for a 5:30 start, Mitchell travels to Elms on Saturday, October 21st for a noon start.
