Bay Path Drops 3-0 Decision to NECC Rival Southern Vermont

Vallee Leads Wildcats with 12 Kills

EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. – Bay Path hosted New England Collegiate Conference opponent Southern Vermont College in women's volleyball action Thursday night and dropped a 3-0 decision by a 25-17, 25-19, 25-19 count in front of a lively crowd at First Baptist Church.

Senior Lauren Vallee (Bristol, Conn.) led all Wildcats with an error-free, 12-kill performance. Junior Lexi Cears (Agawam, Mass.) tallied a team-high 17 assists to go with five digs, while junior Taylor Heinbokel (Agawam, Mass.) paced Bay Path with eight digs. 

Freshman Samantha Leduc (Athol, Mass.) had a solid match for Bay Path, registering seven kills and six digs.  Senior teammate Ashlee Connors (Springfield, Mass.) chipped in seven digs.

For Southern Vermont, freshman Nikki Ramirez (West Covina, Calif.) and junior Liv Sowles (Sacramento, Calif.) led the Mountaineers with 14 kills and 12 kills, respectively, while adding six digs apiece. Sophomore Abigail Landon (South Glens Falls, N.Y.) topped the visitors from Bennington, Vt. with 26 assists, while junior Heidy Benitez (Tulare, Calif.) led the way with 11 digs. Ramirez recorded six service aces, as well.

The Wildcats fell to 8-13 overall and 1-5 in the NECC, while Southern Vermont improved to 7-18 and 3-3 in conference play.

Next up for Bay Path is the regular-season finale against visiting Newbury, Saturday at 1:00 p.m., while Southern Vermont closes out regular-season play at home versus Dean, Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
