Wildcat's Opens Season with 3-1 Win over Dean College

EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. The Bay Path University Volleyball squad kicked off the 2021 campaign with a 3-1 victory over visiting Dean College Wednesday night at First Baptist Gymnasium.

The Wildcats picked up a 25-22 victory in the first set, and then overcame a 15-10 deficit to collect a 25-22 win in the second set. The Bulldogs held off Bay Path in the third set, 25-19, but the Wildcats prevailed in the final frame 25-20 to secure the victory.

Sophomore Zyiasia Knighton (Springfield, Mass.) powered the Wildcats attack with a game-high 13 kills, nine digs and two service aces. Freshman Lilly Kibbe (Ware, Mass.) added eight kills with 20 digs, while senior Lydia Clifford (Conventry, R.I.) and freshman Victoria Burkovskiy (Southwick, Mass.) chipped in four kills each. Clifford tallied a team-high 21 assists and junior Joanna Bampi (Peabody, Mass.) snared a game-high 23 digs in the win.

Dean was paced by a game-high 13 kills from junior Sari Albury (Nassau, Bahamas). Freshman Emily Ball (Feeding Hills, Mass) registered six kills, while sophomore Anabella Driscoll (Plymouth, Mass.) dished out a game-high 24 assists.

Bay Path will look to remain in the win column when they travel to Penn State-Beaver for the USCAA Tip Off tournament. The Wildcats open play against Penn State-Allegheny Friday at 8:00 p.m. Dean College returns to the court with a non-conference road trip to Fitchburg State Friday at 6:00 p.m.
