Wildcats Finish 11th in Blazers Invitational, 2nd NECC Team
CHICOPEE, Mass.- The Wildcat harriers finished 11th out of 14 colleges at the 2012 Elms College Blazer Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, September22nd . Bay Path scored a 282 with seven runners competing in the 5K. UNE topped all teams with a score of 28 with their five top runners placing in the top ten.
Freshman Lian Brumaghim (Newtown, Conn.) again held her top place for the Wildcats finishing 55th overall and 44th in team place with a time of 25:38 running her collegiate personal best. 115 runners competed in the race.
Clearing the chute first for the day was Babson sophomore Marina Capalbo with a time of 19:53.
Coming in second for the Wildcats was sophomore Jessica Fields (Enfield, Conn.) with a time of 26:25 (62th place overall). Senior Danielle Brown (Nashua, N.H.) finished third for Bay Path with a time of 27:31 (74th place overall). Coming through the chute fourth for the Wildcats was sophomore Olivia Bis (South Windsor, Conn.) with a time of 27:53. Rounding out the top five was senior Meagan Costello (Rochester, N.H.) at 30:10.
The Wildcats were second amongst all NECC teams with host Elms topping the conference with a score of 193. Newbury finished 12th with a score of 302, while Wheelock did not score as they did not have a complete team.
Bay Path will next compete at the James Early Invitational at Stanley Park hosted by Westfield State on October 6th with a shot-gun start at noon.
