Wildcats Race in James Early Invitational

WESTFIELD, Mass.- Bay Path finished 42^nd in the largest Invitational of the season with a team score of 1296. The host Westfield State University Owl's placed fifth in the 17^th Annual James Earley Invitational at Stanley Park on Saturday, Oct. 6.

 
It was the largest ever field (43 teams, 453 runners) for the annual invitational as Westfield is also hosting the NCAA Division III New England Regionals on Nov. 10.
 
Nationally-ranked Middlebury College ran away with the team title, scoring 28 points as it placed five runners in the top 10. Amherst was second with 64 points followed by Wellesley (158), Colby (177), Westfield (228) and Coast Guard (240).

Amherst senior Keri Lambert (Amherst, Mass.) took individual honors by crossing the finish line first in 21:30.11 on the 6,000 meters course. The top New England Collegiate Conference runner was from Lesley. Lynx senior Keryn Thorvaldsen (Sayville, N.Y.) finished 29^th overall with a time of 23:34.27. While the Wildcats freshman harrier Lian Brumaghim (Newtown, Conn.) again held her top place for the Wildcats finishing 351^st out of 453 runners overall and 228^th in team place with a time of 30:06.57 running her first 6K of the season getting ready for NCAA Regionals.

Coming in second for Bay Path was senior Danielle Brown (Nashua, N.H.) with a time of 32:58.66 (401st place overall/253^rd Scoring Place).  The third Wildcat to cross the line was freshman Morgan Packer-McCarthy (Windsor Locks, Conn.) with a time of 43:26.53 (416^th/265^th).

Coming through the chute fourth for the Wildcats was sophomore Olivia Bis (South Windsor, Conn.) with a time of 34:50.19 (422^nd/269^th). Rounding out the top five was senior Meagan Costello (Rochester, N.H.) at 40:32.65 (441^st/281^st).

The Wildcats were third amongst all NECC teams with host Lesley topping the conference with a score of 430 in 13^th place. Elms finished 38^th with a score of 1114.

Bay Path will next compete at the 2012 NECC Championships on Saturday, October 13^th hosted by Mitchell College.
