Bay Path Finishes 9th Overall in 1st Run of the Season

Salve Regina University Grabs Top Spot at the Mayflower Kickoff Meet

HENNIKER, N.H. –Salve Regina women's cross-country runners took four of the first ten finishes capturing first place in the Mayflower Kickoff hosted by New England College Friday evening.  The Seahawks were followed by Husson University in second and fellow North Atlantic Conference (NAC) school Colby-Sawyer College in third.

Leading the way for the women was Amy Irving (Bohemia, N.Y.) who finished the 5K race in a time of 19:28.  Irving was followed closely by Seahawk teammate Victoria Varone (Providence, R.I.) who clocked in with a time of 19:32 and Babson College's Marina Capalbo (Gainesville, Va.) who finished in 19:49.

In the men's race Babson College would take first place for the third straight year. The Beavers were followed closely by Gordon College, while fellow Commonwealth Coast Conference school Salve Regina University was a close third.

Leading the way for the men was Mark Gulesian who picked up his third victory in three season at the Mayflower Meet running the 5K race in a time of 16:09.  Gordon College's Neal Hulstein (Ellington, Conn.) finished second with a time of 16:15 followed by Colby-Sawyer's Benjamin Bunnell (St. Johnsbury, Vt.)
