Bay Path College runs in University of St. Joseph Invitational

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – University of Saint Joseph freshman Kaneen Gomez-Hixson (Wethersfield, Conn.) was eighth overall and the second Division-III finisher as USJ hosted the 6th Annual Blue Jay Invitational Saturday.

Division-I Fairfield University had the first five finishers in winning the team title with 15 points. Lasell was second with 54, Saint Joseph third with 90, followed by Bay Path, 95 and Albertus Magnus, 125. In all, 34 runners competed at the event.

Amber Tremblay (Manchester, N.H.) was the second Blue Jay to cross the line and was 15th overall (seventh among Division-III runners) in 24:37. Bridget Saur (South Windsor, Conn.),Anne Pitoniak (West Haven, Conn.) and Rachel Mauthe (East Lyme, Conn.) also earned scoring places for USJ. 

Fairfield senior Hillary Maxson (Old Saybrook, Conn.) was the individual winner in a course-record 20 minutes, 44 seconds and was followed by teammates Danica Ceballos, Kathleen Woods, Sarah Morrissette and Julia Wood.

Lasell's Jaime Russo was sixth overall and the top Division-III runner in 21:58, six seconds ahead of Gomez-Hixson. Gabriella Vezza , of Fairfield, was seventh with Lasell teammates Jessica Smith and Rachel Knuth ninth and 10th.
