The Wildcats Split with NECC Opponent Regis

LONGMEADOW, Mass.— Bay Path University outscored the Pride of Regis College 13 to 8  in double header action splitting the day falling in the extra inning 6-5 in the ninth and coming back to take the Pride 7-3 in the nightcap. Junior shortstop Lauren Vallee (Bristol, Conn.) once again lead the way for the Wildcats finishing with two homers , two doubles, seven RBI, five runs and five hits.

In the opener, both teams jumped out in the first scoring runs including Vallee's first home run. Regis would light up the second scoring three in the second and one more in the third. Bay Path would score two in the fifth and knot the game in the bottom of the seventh. Vallee would send senior infielder Gretchen Hale (Naugatuck, Conn.) home, while freshman outfielder Kiley Bissell (Goshen, Mass.) would single up the middle to send sophomore centerfielder Jailinne Ruiz (Hadley, Mass.) home.

Unfortunately for the Wildcats, they would be unable to notch another run. Regis would score an unearned run in the top of the ninth off an error.

Leading the way for Regis was junior catcher Alexa Najaime (Sandisfield, Mass.) going 3-for-4 with a double and one RBI. Three other Pride members had multiple hits.

Freshman hurler Madi McLellan (Fremont, N.H.) tossed the win going nine innings allowing five runs (three earned) on seven hits. She walked one and struck out three. The Wildcats sophomore pitcher Madison Goodhart (Pawtucket, R.I.) suffered the loss allowing five runs on 12 hits. She fanned three for the game.

Vallee again led the way in the nightcap going 3-for-3 with four runs and three RBI, while Bissell went 2-for-4 with 1 RBI. Freshman pitcher Felicia Gaillaredetz (Londonderry, N.H.)  was a force in the circle and at the plate going 2-for-3. Gaillardetz picked up the win allowing only three runs on six hits. She fanned seven and walked one for the day.

Designated player Ellery Rasmussen (Kingston, N.H.) went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.  Freshman starting pitcher Crystal Daly (North Grosvenordale, Conn.) gave up two runs on five hits. McLellan suffered the loss tossing two innings giving up five runs on six hits.

Regis is now 13-9 overall and 11-3 in conference play, while Bay Path has 13-15 season record and are 5-7 in the NECC. Bay Path will host Daniel Webster on Wednesday, April 26th at 3:30 p.m., while Regis hosts Elms on Thursday, April 27th at 5:00 p.m. for a night double header.
