USCAA Foe Southern Maine CC sweeps Bay Path University

Recap:

Game One:

**Southern Maine Community College Seawolves Dominate Bay Path with 12-0 Victory**

April 30, 2025, the Southern Maine Community College Seawolves hosted Bay Path University in a decisive USCAA softball clash at Southern Maine Community College. The Seawolves showcased an outstanding performance, securing a shutout victory with a final score of 12-0.

From the outset, the Seawolves displayed their offensive prowess, putting up three runs in the first inning. DeLanie Perry initiated the scoring with a double to center field, driving in Cameron Crerar and Courtney Frohaug. Sarah Wilkins then doubled, bringing Perry home and setting the tone for the rest of the game.

Wilkins continued her exceptional performance into the fourth inning with another home run, this time a two-run shot, further solidifying the Seawolves' control over the game.

On the defensive side, Wilkins was also the hero on the mound. She pitched a complete game, no-hitter, striking out nine and not allowing a single walk in her five innings of work. Wilkins' dual threat performance was pivotal in the Seawolves' commanding victory.

Bay Path struggled to find any rhythm both offensively and defensively. Their lineup failed to produce any hits against Wilkins' dominant pitching, and they committed multiple fielding errors, which proved costly.

Kaitlyn Kerstetter, Bay Path's pitcher, faced a tough outing, allowing 11 hits and 12 runs (eight earned) across four innings. Despite her efforts, the Seawolves' offensive onslaught and Bay Path's defensive miscues made it a challenging game.

Game Two:

Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Seawolves showcased their prowess against Bay Path College, securing a convincing 11-3 victory. The game, held at SMCC's home ground, provided a thrilling spectacle for fans with strategic plays and standout performances.

The Seawolves didn't waste time and immediately took control in the first inning. Emily Hutchins reached base due to an error by Bay Path's left fielder, Ainsley Morrison, allowing DeLanie Perry to score. Sarah Wilkins then doubled, bringing Hutchins home and setting the tone for the Seawolves' dominance.

Bay Path responded in the second inning with a solo home run by Madison Sunderland, but it wasn't enough to deter the Seawolves, who continued to build their lead. Perry's sacrifice fly in the third inning allowed Courtney Frohaug to score, extending SMCC's lead.

Despite a brief surge from Bay Path in the fourth inning, driven by an RBI single from Jenna Boudreau and a run scored by Sunderland on a passed ball, SMCC remained unfazed. Olivia Hill's sacrifice in the bottom of the fourth allowed Cydney Fetterly to score, and a daring steal of home by Ariana Cross further solidified SMCC's control.

In contrast, Bay Path struggled on the mound. Madison Sunderland, despite her early home run, faced challenges, conceding ten runs (two earned) over 5.2 innings. Kaitlyn Kerstetter, who pitched briefly in relief, allowed one run without recording an out.

Bay Path next travels to Lesley Univerisyt to play a doubleheader on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 1 pm and 3 pm.
