DANIEL WEBSTER SOARS BY BAY PATH, 80-30

HOLYOKE, Mass., Jan. 17, 2011 – Daniel Webster junior guard Alycia Gervais (Windham, Conn.) dropped in a game-high 24 points and the Eagles extended their win streak to 11 straight with a convincing 80-30 win over host Bay Path College in Monday afternoon's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's basketball game at the Bartley Center.

The Eagles, who had three players reach double figures, improved to 12-2 overall and moved into a tie atop the NECC standings with Mitchell College at 5-0. Bay Path, meanwhile, remained winless at 0-13, 0-5 NECC.

Junior center Alyssa Regan (Salem, N.H.) scored 12 points and added six rebounds in just 13 minutes and junior guard Sarah Paternostro (Glastonbury, Conn.) netted 10 points and handed out a game-high 13 assists as the other two players to score in figures for Daniel Webster in the victory.

Freshman forward Taylor Riley's (Colchester, VT.) jumper staked Bay Path to an early 10-6 lead. From there, however, the Eagles limited the Wildcats to just two field goals and used a 28-4 run over the final 15:49 to build a comfortable 34-14 lead at intermission.

Regan then put the game out of reach, as she netted eight of the Eagles' next 10 points in a 10-2 run over the first 5:38 of the second half.

The Eagles held decisive advantages in points in the paint (45-6), points off turnovers (33-7) and bench scoring (26-9) while forcing the Wildcats into 29 turnovers and 28.6-percent shooting from the field.

Sophomore guard Brittany Alexander (Enfield, Conn.) tallied 10 points in 21 minutes as the lone player to reach double figures for Bay Path in the losing effort.
