Mountaineers Climb Past Wildcats 74-46 during Pink Zone Night

HOLYOKE, Mass.—Freshman guard Justine Hook (Berwick, Penn.) led all players with 18 points including hitting three from downtown.  Despite the high scoring game by Hook, Bay Path fell 74-46 to New England Collegiate College (NECC) rival Southern Vermont College tonight at the Bartley Arena in NCAA Division III women's hoops action. Bay Path Hosted their WBCA Pink Zone night helping support the Kay Yow Cancer Fund for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Three Mountaineers tallied double figures for the night. Junior starting guard Joa Claircius (Clermont, Fla.) topped her team scoring 16 points. She grabbed a double double dishing out 10 assists as well. Freshman forward Kourtney Hewitt (Bennington, Vt.) recorded 14 points going 6-for-10 from the field.  Junior guard Alyssa Davis (West Burke, Vt.) added 12 points.

Sophomore guard Brittney Alexander (Enfield, Mass.) chipped in ten points and nine rebounds for the evening. Freshman forward Taylor Riley (Colchester, Vt.) added six points and seven rebounds.

The Mountaineers took a huge advantage of the 37 turnovers committed by the Wildcats and scored 43 of their 74 points off of ball handling errors. Despite the turnovers, Bay Path led under the boards with 43 rebounds to Southern Vermont's 41 for the evening.

Southern Vermont is now 7-14 overall and 5-8 in conference play, while Bay Path is 0-23 and 0-14 in the NECC.

Both teams will be on the road Saturday. Bay Path travels to NECC opponent Lesley University for a 6:00 p.m. contest, while Southern Vermont will face conference foe Becker College at 3:00 p.m.
